Emotional Support

You are not alone.

Please know that we are here to support you however we can. We facilitate support groups, can connect you with other bereaved parents, help you plan memorial or funeral services, listen to your story during peer companion meetings, provide grief resources and "Comfort Kits", and assist with planning remembrance events to help honor your baby that you so dearly miss.

We are here to walk alongside you as you navigate your grief journey and offer support whether it's been days, weeks or years since your loss.

We welcome you to visit our Center for Child Loss in Northborough, MA. Please email massachusettschapter@thetearsfoundation.org or text/call 617-785-8779 to schedule an appointment.
Emotional Support:
Support Groups and Peer Companion Meetings

The Massachusetts Chapter of The TEARS Foundation offers free support groups for bereaved families who have experienced a pregnancy or infant loss (including but not limited to miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, molar pregnancy, terminated for medical reasons loss, stillbirth or neonatal loss). Support groups are peer-facilitated by trained peer companions who have experienced a pregnancy or infant loss and are at least two years into their grief journey.

Whether your loss was weeks ago or years ago, you are always welcome to attend.

Support groups are a safe space to share stories, listen to others, honor our pregnancies and babies, and find new ways to heal during the grieving journey. We typically start with a topic to focus on and then leave time for open discussion. Past topics have included secondary losses, ideas for celebrating anniversaries and birthdates, communicating with friends and family, handling grief during the holiday season, returning to work, etc.

Attendees are not required to share their story - just listening is always okay.
Parents may attend together or with a different support person.

Our support groups are currently meeting virtually.

Creating New Memories
When you lose a loved one, something common you may hear is "think of the good memories you had with him/her - they will get you through these hard times." Unfortunately many bereaved parents don't have a lot of opportunities to create memories during their pregnancy or before their baby dies. Our chapter with our baby is cut short.

This is why The TEARS Foundation hosts events like our Rock & Walk for Babies, remembrance gatherings and support groups. You are allowed to create memories now - it may not be how you had originally dreamed, but we will help you find a different way to honor your pregnancy and baby.

Our volunteers lovingly create "Comfort Kits" to give newly bereaved families handcrafted ornaments and mementos to remember their baby. We hope these meaningful gifts provide families with a bit of comfort and a "virtual hug" as they begin their grief journey. Request a Comfort Kit here.
